MY ROWING PAGE

Hey, over the past couple of years, 1998,1999 and 2000 I have been a member of Austinmer surfclub's junior (U18's) surf boat crew. We compeated at various events throughout our our time and have gained many storys and learnt many a lesson, both in and out of the boat.

Our crew in the 1998-99 season consisted of Zac Martin, Shane Grose, Kev Morris, Josh Gunning and Me (Tim Hulland). We were coached by Danny Murril swept by Glen Sweeny. We did have a problem with having five people in the crew and obviously, only four seats but this was worked around due to other commitments. We did ourselves proud stealing branch championship from Corrimal (unfortunatly I was not in the crew for that race) coming in 12th at the State championships at Narrabeen Beach and also 12th in the Australian Titles at Kurrah beach. (QLD)

Our 1999-2000 season saw some changes, the five-to-a-crew situation had to be rectified, a hard thing to do but Zac was unfortunatly yet nessasarally dropped from the crew. Another change we saw was when Danny Murril started to sweep us at carnivals. This led to some exciting situations but nothing too serious, for a first year sweep with a second year junior crew Danny really picked up the pace well. We defended our banch title and came in third in the U21 division, We unfortunatly, did not go as well as we would have hoped in the folowing events. Fourth at the Pacific Palm's battle of the boats, semis at the States only just missing out on the finals to Gerringong, the Aussies was our biggest dissapointment being knocked out on the second round on the first day.

Due to changes in the competition rules for the junior boat crews.- Now juniors are classed as Under 19's rather than Under 18's we will have another year rowing together as juniors, which hopefully will show some good results.
